Holy Week and Easter Triduum
Times of Service
Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week, the greatest week in the Church’s year. As followers of Christ it must be of great importance for us to participate in the action of this week in as full a way as possible. Anyone who truly celebrates the Triduum leaves with a renewed faith and an uplifted heart.
- Holy Thursday: we commemorate the institution of the Eucharist. Christ’s body broken for us to share our lives and to give ourselves to others. We will celebrate this event at 7pm with the Washing of Feet, followed by the procession to the Altar of Repose with watching until 10pm.
- Good Friday portrays the extent of Christ’s love for us. On this day we celebrate His suffering and death. The Liturgy of the Passion, during which includes Holy Communion is at 3pm. There will be Stations of the Cross at 7pm.
- Holy Saturday Night is the high point of Holy Week (and the Christian Year) – the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. The Easter Vigil will take place at 8pm. We look forward to a big gathering of the Parish family at this glorious Liturgy. At this celebration we will welcome new members of our congregation who will be Baptised or Received into Full Communion with the Church.
These three liturgies speak powerfully and movingly about our Lord’s Institution of the Eucharist, suffering, death and mighty resurrection: they are part of the same reality. All Catholics who are serious about their faith should do their very best to take part in this celebration of our Redemption.
- Easter Sunday Morning: Holy Mass of the Resurrection is celebrated at 8am and 11am.
