Safeguarding

Safeguarding at St. Joseph's

In St Joseph’s parish and within the Diocese and the wider church, we acknowledge that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we all have a part to playing keeping people safe. St Joseph’s parish is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church.

We affirm the One Church approach to safeguarding children, young people and adults, through the promotion of a sustained and sustainable culture of constant vigilance. The One Church approach refers to the commitment by the Catholic Church in England and Wales to using the same policies, procedures, standards and systems in relation to safeguarding according to the CSSA.

St Joseph’s parish recognises the personal dignity andrights of children, young people and adults who may beat risk towards whom it has a special responsibility. The Church and all individual members undertake allappropriate steps to:

  • – Maintain a safe environment for all.
  • – To practise fully and positively Christ’s Ministry towards children, young people and adults
  • – To respond sensitively and compassionately to their needs to help keep them safe from harm
